4th Newsletter: VETAAL project begins its pilot training programme

The main objective of VETAAL is to address the challenges of the vocational skill mismatch that the new demand for an AAL-integrated Habitat has produced. This is being carried out through the development and validation of a harmonised European curriculum that abides by the principles of The European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training (ECVET) This curriculum is in the design and manufacture of Smart Support Furniture (furniture for the care and support of both elderly and disabled people). As a means to improve Lifelong Learning in manufacturing, the curriculum is based in e-Learning activity and supported by face-to-face learning: it seeks to benefit both experts working in the furniture sector already as well as those preparing to enter its labour market.

The partners in charge of carrying out the training programme designed to achieve these objectives are the Faculty of Wood Technology at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (WULS-SGGW) from Poland, the Ljubljana-based Slovenian Institute for Vocational Education and Training (CPI), and the Murcia Technological Centre of Furniture and Wood (CETEM) from Spain.

Over the course of the last few months, these three VETAAL partners have been carrying out the pilot training course covering the Design and Production of Intelligent Furniture as a part of the project's work, registering over 70 students.
