2nd Newsletter: Second meeting of European Furniture Design Project for Elderly and Disabled

Last May 13rd was held in Ljubljana (Slovenia) the second meeting of the European project VETAAL, in which 14 researchers from research centers and universities from Spain, Slovenia, Poland, Italy, Austria and the UK involved, including Spanish Confederation of Business Timber (CONFEMADERA HABITAT), with the aim of developing a training plan in design and manufacture of special furniture for the care of elderly and disabled, adapting professional qualifications to the requirements of AAL further to harmonize the curriculum of the industry professionals at European level.

During these months we have continued the investigation, celebrated expert meetings and distributing questionnaires for analysis, resulting in three proposals for national qualification profiles, which were presented at the meeting in Ljubljana, those of Spain, Slovenia and Poland. In addition, the Project Communication Plan was presented.

The project is part of the Leonardo VETAAL program of the European Commission, for the development of a learning path for students, designers and manufacturers of furniture for the elderly and disabled. At this second meeting it was addressed the proposal of the professional profiles related to this issue in different countries and the upcoming activities.
